The Kanamo Peak Expedition

Kanamo Peak is situated In Spiti at a staggering height of 19,553 ft. Imminent behind Kibber village the peak is hidden away in the depths of Spiti Valley. Extreme isolation, the Kanamo Peak trek is situated in an area that is untouched by modernity and unperturbed by civilization.

 

Best Season: June- September

Day 1: Kaza – Kibber – Dumla (4200m)
We drive for about 45 minutes to reach the Kye Monastery. View the morning prayers and drive onward to the road head for our trek. Today is a short walk more for acclimatization than anything else. Walk through gradual slopes. We camp next to a small stream in the Chicham fields
Day 3: ABC – Kanamo Peak – Base Camp (4600m)

We leave camp by early morning after a quick breakfast and make our way to the summit. We walk with a steady pace over snow on a steep ascent. The first big ascent is a three hour walk after which it flattens out a bit. The second ascent is another 3 hours and it takes you directly to the top of the mountain. On a clear day, view Shila Peak, Chau Chau Kang Nilda, Pin Parvati Pass, Parang La and the entire Kinnaur & Spiti Range. We leave the summit and get to the base camp for night hault..

Day 2: Dumla – Kanamo Base Camp (4600m)

Relaxed morning today, we check our gear and pack overnight bags to move to the advance base camp after an early lunch. The camp is a 4 hour walk away through steep slopes filled with scree. Early dinner tonight to be ready for the big day tomorrow.

Day 4: Base Camp – Kibber – Manali

After breakfast head down to the roadpoint kibber and we drive 10 To Kaza.End of the Tour.
