Sara Umga is one of the most toughest trek route in Himachal Pradesh and is recommended for all those adventurers who are looking for difficult trek. The journey takes one from the lush green Valley of Parvati to the dry and arid valley of Spiti valley. The pass acts as a base camp for the famous peaks of Papsura and Dharmsura.

Detailed Itinerary:
Day 1: Arrival at Tosh
Explore the village .Excursion walk in afternoon. Night stay at Hotel.
Day 2: Trek to Bhudhaban
After breakfast start the trek to Bhudhaban. The trek route goes along Tosh Nala or a stream and into dense pine forest. It takes about 5 hours to reach Bhudhaban at an elevation of 3020 metres up on reaching Bhudhaban.Enjoy your meal and stay in tents for the night.
Day 3 – Trek from Bhudhaban to Sharam Thach(3500 m)
Post breakfast and start early, as the day ahead is gonna be enduring. The trek goes uphill and it takes about 5 – 6 hours to complete and the trek route will lead you through green meadows and rhododendron; you will also come across the best scree you will ever see here. Overnight stay in tents at Sharam Thach
Day 4 – Trek from Sharam Thach to Shamshi Thach(3800 m)
After breakfast; proceed for the trek of the day – from Sharam Thach to Shamshi Thach. The trek route requires one to climb steep scree from Sharam Thach and ends at the foothills of Tosh Glacier. After short descend further to reach Shamshi Thach you can view Tosh glacier on north and Kullu Makalu peak on east side.Overnight in the tents at Shamshi Thach
Day 5 – Trek from Shamshi Thach – Kuta Thach(4100 m)
Start your day with a healthy breakfast; proceed for the trek today to Kuta Thach. Kuta Thach is a wonderful place with green meadow right next to Tosh glacier. located at the base of Sara Umga Pass, the trek takes about six to seven hours through steep path in snow.
Day 6 – Trek to Sara Umga Pass(4770 m) -Putiruni(3800 m)
The day start early for the trek to the Pass from Kuta Thach. The altitude is high so you must be physically strong.From the top there is commanding view of Kullu and Lahaul Valleys.Later descend from the pass and one must concentrate over the snow and moraines stretch.Overnight at Putiruni camp.
Day 7 – Trek to Chota Dhara(3700 m)
The trek commences early today through the right banks of Chandra River.You can see the glimpse of Bara Shigri Glacier one of the biggest glacier of Himachal Pradesh. It will take 2-3 Hours to reach Chota Dara. .Cab will pick us up and drive via Rohtang La to Manali and end of the services.

If you are beginner kindly offload your backpack, because trekking with heavy backpack in mountains is not an easy task especially when you are carrying around 8-10 kg uphill.
The backpack cannot weigh more than 11 kg. Backpack should have waterproof cover.
