Shinghar pass is one of the toughest pass in Dhauladhar range. It is very challenging as there is no proper trail ,it is just shepherd trail fixing one step at a time in one stretch from base to the pass. The pass is also known as “killar” pass because of its unpredictable weather ,Sudden change in weather, High winds, drop in temperature ,Hail storms in moments of time. This pass is only used by few shepherds with their herd to cross in summer for grazing.

Day 1: Palampur to Khala : (2850 m)
Start from Palampur 4-5 Kms drive to Bundla and reach the last village Thala. Start trek ,cross Neugal river and continue trek which is uphill and the trail continues across a number of ridges involving steep ascents all along the route to Thala. Continue trek and reach by evening in Thatri beautiful campsite with green meadows spread over a huge area.
Day 2: Khala to Chunja : (3650 m)
The route goes up through Nehar, crosses the glacier on Nullah to the right side, it is the toughest day of this trek, climb steeply to Chunja base , fixing your foot on rocks and holding hand in rocks kind of rock climbing, traversing and finally reach a camping place below a big overhang rock for night shelter.
Day 3: Chunja to Singhar Pass (4400 m) -Tuh Village.
From Chunja onwards the route is clear and climbs moderately although the climb is steep at places. Unlike, other passes, this pass offers an unobstructed view of the interior of the Kangra valley and the 360 panaromic view of the mountains towards the Pir Panjal range.From the top of the pass you can see starting point of your trek thala village and on the other side River Ravi the ending point towards Chamba valley. After descending for a while you will reach at the Holy Keur Lake which is believed to be the abode of Lord Shiva before he moved to Manimahesh. The trail had flattened out and now we could see Gujjar huts .Continue and reach the first village of chamba valley Tuh village and stay for night.
Day 4: – Tuh Village(2600 m) to Chamba
After Breakfast trek trek last few kilometers and end of the trek. We take a cab to Chamba and onward destination.
